Chapter Ten

Adeline

Bumbums felt very sad because of my mom’s terrible words. She climbed up a tree, escaping the trouble she was about to experience from grandma. Bumbums was able to tell my grandma what happened, and she immediately went outside to see my mom on top of a tree. She shouted and screamed, making the whole world shake. My grandpa was asleep at that time, but he didn’t wake up with grandma’s screams. Instead, he woke up with the alarm clock ringing right beside him.

On the tree that my mom climbed on, was a turtle. The turtle tried to tug on my mom’s soft, pink dress, so she turned her head to its direction. “Ukli, I need your help.” It suddenly spoke. My mom screamed in surprise. “I was transformed into a turtle by your friend, Tux.” It continued. My mom calmed down and went closer to the creature. “Just so you know; Tux isn’t my friend.” She squinted her eyes. “Well, I want to be changed back to human.” The turtle asked for a favour. “I’d like to help, but you have to give me something in return as well.” My mom answered. “I could make your perfect sister go to military school for six months.” It offered. “That’s good!” My mom gladly agreed to his offer. She turned the turtle into his human form with a snap of a finger.

“So, what’s your name, kid?” She asked. “I’m Jake, the orphan.” He replied. My mom felt bad for Jake being an orphan, so she invited him to stay with my family.  “Jake, I’m excited for you to meet my daughter, Adeline.” She said, while walking to the house. Jake was excited too. He liked my name, since it was unique and nice. When the two of them got home, my mom called for me to come downstairs. “Adeline, come down here! We have a guest!” She said. “I’m coming!” I went down the stairs. Jake heard my wonderful voice. “This is Jake, and he’ll be staying with us for a while.” My mom said once I came down.  I nodded my head in response. Jake greeted me by waving his hand. I did the same. “Mom, I have to finish making my presentation for social studies.” I shyly said. “Sure.” My mom replied. I ran back to my room to finish the presentation. I blushed madly right after. Ever since then, I had a crush.

Jake and I went to school together on the next day. Jake became my classmate, after being enrolled. Social studies was our first subject, and I was very ready. I put my presentation on the screen and took the stage away. I was at first very scared and shy. My voice was trembled as it was so soft that not even Miss Vibal could hear it. “Good morning… Classmates…” I started. “To-today, I’m going to teach you all a-about J-Japan…” As I continued teaching, I grew more and more confident. My voice was no longer trembling, and it was no longer soft. It could be heard until the back of the classroom. At the end of the lesson, I gave all my classmates a Japanese treat. Jake didn’t listen to my teachings at all. All he did was stare at my eyes. He loved me.

Being a student in my school for several months, Jake started to become more proud of himself. He thought of me like a loser in school who didn’t have a place in the world. In fact, he didn’t only think of me like that, but he also treated me like that. He started to bully me. I didn’t like the new Jake. I liked the old one, the nice one. I hoped he would change back, but he never did. Jake met Crystal, and had a crush on her instead of me. He would treat her like a queen, but he would treat me like trash.

Tux, on the other hand, has been dating Websy non-stop until my mom figured out. She got really mad at Websy, saying that Tux is a villain, and that she couldn’t date him. Tux really loved Websy, and if changing his ways would allow him to do so, he’s willing to. “Ukli, I’m really sorry for what I’ve done to you.” Tux asked for forgiveness. Ukli was a kind person, so she forgave him, and Tux became part of the petling family. Tux was finally allowed to date Websy, and soon, they got married.

At Grandma’s house, grandpa was looking at his young photos when he came across a beautiful picture of himself. He tried to look like it, so he combed his hair to reduce its gravity, and changed his clothes, and then put on his middle school ID. Studying to become smart made the final changes. He had transformed into his younger self.

One day, grandpa entered an intelligence competition. He had to take a test to see who among all the competitors was the smartest. Because of his transformation, he was sure he would win.

It was the day of the intelligence competition, but grandpa turned back into his old self before the test even started. Winging it was his only choice left. When the quiz asked him what his name was, he didn’t know what to put. He told himself that if he puts his mom’s last name, his dad would get mad. If he puts his dad’s last name, his mom would get mad. He had no idea what to put, so he just left it blank. The quiz was filled with lots of simple problems in mathematics, science, and English. It wasn’t so easy for my grandpa. He ended up passing a paper full of guesses and wrong answers. He couldn’t wait to see his score anyway.

Grandpa ate a doughnut while waiting for his intelligence test results. After eating the doughnut, he drank some orange juice. “Choco-Orange tastes terrible!” He spit the juice out in the garbage can.

What is Mr.Blabidiboo's score?

Chapter Nine

Ukli

“But Tux, you know I’m married to James…” I tried to reason. “He won’t know, anyway!” Tux smirked. “We can get married tomorrow!” I started to get very mad. “Listen up, Tux, I love James, and that’s final.” I shouted. “But…” He tried to say. “No, Tux!” I went out of his apartment building to go back home.

At the exact moment I left, Tux took all my powers away. He also made my dad sick again, along with my mom, Adeline, and the petlings, but worse of all; he made James forget about his past. I arrived at home seeing James in a rocking chair, then greeted him as I entered the door. “Hi James, how are you?” I said. “Who’s James, and who are you?” He seemed confused. At first I thought that he was joking, but when Adeline and the petlings came out covered in scratches and spots shaped like the letter U, I realized that everything that was happening was real. I turned very worried. I found out by searching on the Internet that Adeline and the petlings had a rare disease called urge.

I decided to call my mom to check if she and my dad had the same sickness. “Mom, Adeline and the petlings got a deadly sickness called urge.” I told my mom the news. “That’s weird, I have that sickness too!” She replied. “Your father also has it, and so does Donna.” She said. “Even Donna has it? How did she get it?” I asked out of curiosity. “She kissed your father, so the urge infected her.” My mom replied. “Do you know the cure to the urge?” I asked, hoping that she knew. “Yeah, we need to get the anti-love shot.” She said. “What’s that?” I asked again. “It’s a shot that prevents you from loving someone ever again.” She said in a sad tone. “Oh… Thanks mom!” I hung up the phone. I didn’t want Adeline to get shot with the anti-love shot, because it would prevent her from loving someone. I tried to use my magic to cure my family, but I realized that all my powers were gone.

I ran to Tux’s house and pleaded for him to cure my family. “Marry me tomorrow, and if you don’t, your family will be in real danger.” Tux smirked. I was too worried about my family that I had no choice. I had to do it. “Alright, I’ll do it.” I gave in. “Good.” Tux gave me back my powers. I went to heal my family from the urge. It happened quickly, but now I had a marriage to worry about. I felt helpless, until I had a genius plan.

I went to the church the day after to have my wedding. There weren’t any guests inside, and Tux was right in front of the priest. “Sorry I’m late!” I ran in front of Tux. “Just get on with the wedding!” Tux seemed stressed. The priest then started the wedding. “You may now kiss the bride.” He smirked. Before Tux tried to kiss me, the priest removed his costume. Tux realized that the priest was only an actor. James soon came together with the police, and Tux got arrested.

I turned Tux into a spider once he got inside his cell. Since he was small, he was able to escape and find his way into my house. He tried to sneak inside, and saw the petlings. Once he saw Websy, he fell in love with her, and so did she. Tux the spider stayed in my house for three months without being seen by me. He usually hid when I was around, so he didn’t know much of the people in the house.

It was a tiring week filled with much magic, sicknesses, and forgiveness, so I decided to have a vacation. We went to a wonderful field full of bushes, trees, and flowers. The sky was huge with lots of clouds, and the sun shining to its maximum brightness. We had a whole day for family day.

Once we went home from our trip, my mom was in the hospital, pregnant with another baby. As usual, surgery happens. My dad named her Bumbums, meaning perfect. I had a very own sister.

Bumbums grew to be almost perfect, leaving me as jealous as ever. Adeline, on the other hand, soon went to grade school. She perfected all her subjects, except social studies. As she asked her best friend, Crystal, to help her in the subject, her grades somehow became lower and lower instead of going higher. When I saw her grade, I was disappointed to see that it was really low. I helped her in the subject for her to understand it more. She did understand it, but she still failed the subject. I found out that it was because she studied her social studies a week before the surprise test came. She must’ve forgotten what she had read.

Adeline noticed that whenever I had the time, I would stare at myself in the mirror for hours. She asked me for the reason why I did that, and I replied to her by saying that I was jealous of Bumbums being more perfect than I was. “Nobody’s perfect.” She said. I didn’t know what that phrase meant, but I just knew that it would make a big impact in my problem. I decided to keep her words for a while to see what she meant by it.

All Adeline’s days in school seemed normal, until today. A Spanish football player approached her. He wrote Adeline a small poem, which she was surprised about.

Roses are red,
Violets are blue.
When I look into the toilet,
I remember you.

“Adeline, may I please speak to you?” Miss Vibal, Adeline’s social studies teacher, called her up in class. “What about, Miss Vibal?” She politely replied. “I need you to give us a presentation about your favourite country tomorrow.” Miss Vibal requested. Adeline’s eyes widened; she was too scared to present. “It would pull up your grade, Adeline.” Miss Vibal continued. Adeline calmed down and agreed to the request. If presenting about her favourite country was the only thing she could do to get a good grade, she would take that chance. That’s my daughter.

Adeline went back home from school seeing Bumbums and I fighting. “Why were you ever born!?” I tried to insult Bumbums, but instead made her run away in tears to my mother.

What will happen to Bumbums?

Chapter Eight

Ukli

Mr.Chickaboo and Ms.Poochipoo were able to get a new born baby girl after a few years. They named her Websy, since she was a spider. The petling couple were so happy for their new born child, and we had a small party for Websy’s birth.

After the party, I decided to take a stroll in the park. Going outside was one of my hobbies, since nature is always beautiful. In the middle of the street, I saw a colourful stick. “Aren’t sticks brown?” I asked myself, wondering what the coloured stick was. I picked it up, and took it home, hoping that I would find out what it does. I waved it in the air, trying everything I could to find out what the stick does. Immediately after I waved the stick, a storm appeared in the sky. I was starting to think that the coloured stick was a magic wand, but I wasn’t so sure. I waved the stick again, and then I tapped it on my clothes. I was then surprised to see that my dress turned really shiny and had lots of gems stuck to it. I finally proved my hypothesis, and I found out that the stick was a magic wand.

I wanted to find out more about how to wand works, so I went to find my old friend Tux. He was a boy who went to magic school, so I thought he would know how to make the wand work. I found out Tux’s address and knocked on his door. There, I saw a very tall, muscular man with blonde hair. “Hi Tux, it’s so nice to see you again!” I greeted him, entering his apartment building. “It’s nice to see you too, Ukli. But what did you come here for?” Tux asked in suspicion. I told him all about the wand and how I found it, and an evil smile crept upon his face. “So, you want me to teach you how to use the wand?” He grabbed the wand from my hand. “Yes, but I’m only available on Saturdays. Could we have the lesson then?” I asked, hoping he would agree. “Sure. But you’re going to have to give me something in return later.” He smirked. I didn’t know what that little ‘something’ was, but I agreed anyway, to learn how to use the powerful wand.

That Saturday, I went to Tux’s apartment to learn more about the wand. Every Saturday, I went to Tux’s house, so James became suspicious about where I was going. James started to feel ignored by me, because instead of spending time with the family on Saturdays, I would go out of the house more often. He tried to ask me where I was going, but I was already late for my class with Tux, so I just said that I had no time to talk.

James became more and more suspicious each Saturday. One Saturday, when I went to my class with Tux, James followed me so that he would know where I was going. To his disappointment, he saw me sitting beside Tux, talking and laughing, a wand in my hand. He became mad since he thought that I was dating Tux secretly. He decided to give me a serious talk later on, so he just went back home.

As James arrived home, he sat down on a rocking chair and waited patiently for me to come back home. As I entered the mansion, I heard James stand up from the rocking chair that he was sitting on. He crossed his arms and his face turned red with anger. “What’s wrong?” I asked, hoping he wasn’t mad at me. “Tell me, Ukli, why were you at Tux’s house? What were you doing there? And why do you have a wand in your hand?” He said in his most calm voice, although I could hear a little bit of anger mixed with it. I turned pale, because James found out about my wand surprise. I took a deep breath, and opened my mouth to start talking. Before I even tried to talk, James interrupted me in a disappointed voice, and told me that he didn’t want to talk about it. We went to my dad’s house since we promised that we would come back there every Saturday and Sunday. While James was driving, I kept very quiet, and so did he. Adeline didn’t know what was going on, so she was just happily playing Patty Cake with the petlings.

As we arrived at my dad’s house, James immediately left the house, heading for his own. I told my mom about what happened with me and James. She felt sorry for me and herself, since she used all her effort preparing dinner just for the two of us.

I noticed that my dad wasn’t roaming around the house like he usually does, so I asked my mom where he was. She said he was sick because he ate a whole tube of frozen icing. I was surprised and went to the kitchen immediately to make chicken soup. Once I was finished, my mom offered to bring the bowl of soup to my dad’s room. I agreed, so she climbed up the stairs, the bowl of soup in her hands, and knocked on the door. “Who is it? If it’s you, Mr.Chickaboo, your chicken seeds are mine.” My dad said, with a voice that was as soft as a whisper. “It’s me, Blabidi. I brought soup for you. Now open the door so I can get in!” My mom replied with her usual angry tone. The door was unlocked and my mom went inside to put the bowl of soup on my dad’s desk. “I don’t need the soup! I’m fine!” My dad lied. “Blabidi, you’re so dumb sometimes, you know?” My mom sighed. “That’s it!” My dad shouted like he finally found out a secret. “What’s it?” My mom asked in suspicion. “Dumb, that’s the meaning of my name!” My dad smiled. My mom silently chuckled and left the room for my dad to peacefully drink his soup.

I stayed in my dad’s house for several more weeks so that I could take care of my dad through his sick times. I wanted to cure him with my wand, but I couldn’t, because it was in the mansion. I hadn’t learned how to use magic without the wand yet.

I checked the calendar and found out the date today. It was Sunday, June 24. I was calm for a few minutes until I realized that I skipped one lesson with Tux. I hurriedly went to Tux’s house to make up for my missed lesson. Tux was able to forgive me, since I explained that my dad was sick, and so he taught me the second to the last lesson of magic.

After my lesson, I decided to pay James a visit to say I was sorry and to explain what he saw. I knocked on his door, and I saw Mister Albert Boss open the door. He told me that I made James really sad and that I am never allowed to go inside his house ever again. Since I couldn’t explain it to him personally, I decided to do it through technology. I picked up my phone to dial his number, but he didn’t answer it. So, I just decided to give up for now.

I went home and climbed the stairs to my dad’s room, surprisingly seeing him all green. I went to the drugstore as fast as I could as I saw James in the park, sitting down alone in an ugly bench. Instead of walking to the drugstore, I switched my direction and headed for James. I knew James could see me; I was right in front of him. Even though he could, he never looked at me straight in the eye. “Hi James, what are you doing here?” I tried to call his attention. “What do you want, Ukli?” James finally looked at me, but with a mad expression. “I want to explain everything you saw.” I said confidently. “You don’t need to. I know it all already.” James looked back at the ground. “No, you don’t.” I said. “Yes, I do. I know you’re dating Tux.” James replied. “I’m not.” I said, once again. “What is it, then!?” James got irritated. “Well, I found this wand at the street while I was strolling in the park one day. Tux was the only person I knew who could activate the wand, so I went to him.” I finally explained. “That’s not true!” James stood up and shouted at me. “How do you know it’s not!? I just wanted to know how the wand works! I wanted to use it to make Adeline have a better future and to heal my dad from his sicknesses! I never wanted to lose you…” I felt like all the confidence that was locked up inside of me was set free. James held my hands and looked into my teary eyes. “Is this true?” He asked. “Yes…” I sniffed. I soon felt his hands wrap around my back; he hugged me. We loved each other again, and we forgave each other for our fights.

“Where’s Ukli?” My dad asked in suspicion. He was worried about me because I wasn’t back yet. He got out of his bed and tried to walk to the drugstore, as sick as he was. “Hello, miss, have you seen a kind and pretty girl named Ukli?” My dad asked the clerk, Donna, but she didn’t answer. Since my dad’s sickness caused him poor eyesight temporarily, he thought that Donna was me. Donna, on the other hand, soon fell in love with my dad. My dad took Donna home, thinking she was me.

Right after Donna and my dad left the store, James and I entered it. We bought some medicines for my dad so that he would get better. Once the medicines were bought, we went back to my dad’s house, seeing my dad hiding from Donna behind a couch, and my mom holding Donna back. James and I tried to help my mom and my dad kick Donna out of our home, but Donna stayed right in front of our door.

After the entire ruckus, I told the family about how my relationship with James was fixed, and then we all had a Blabidiboo Family dinner. After drinking the medicine that James and I bought, my dad got healed immediately. So, we were able to go back to the mansion for the new week to unfold.

It was the last day of my magic class, and I was excited to finish. I would finally be able to use all my knowledge about magic, and make life better for my family. I went to Tux’s house, with James knowing, and studied my last lesson in magic. “Alright Ukli, I have taught you everything about magic, and now you have to give me something in return.” Tux reminded me of the favour that I had to give him in return for the magic lessons. “Anything for you, Tux!” I said confidently, grateful for all his teachings. “I want you!” Tux smirked. “Me?” I became confused. “You to marry!” He made a big evil smile.

Will Ukli keep her promise?
